I absolutely love my family doctor! He is everything I think most families want in a doctor: caring, trustworthy, empathetic, a great listener, and genuinely concerned with my family. I trust his opinion over any one else’s. When it comes to your children, I believe this is one of the most important things you can find and do for your family. You want someone who you trust, literally, with the life of your child.
However, now that we are moving, I have to find another doctor. I recently had an appointment with my family doctor and he had a great recommendation for me. Someone from his office recently moved to the town we are moving to and he had nothing but high praises and glowing admiration for him. You can bet he will be the first person I call when our move is finalized.
Recommendations are so important. It never hurts to ask because you never know who knows who. Experts say we are all connected by seven people i.e. someone who knows someone who knows someone. In my life’s experiences, I have found this to be true. Most of my contacts, both personally and professionally, have been from recommendations of others. This only goes to show you how important reputation is. It is an asset that needs to be closely guarded, especially these days when competition is so fierce.
I will miss my doctor dearly; however, when I am in town visiting relatives, I fully intend to have my kids’ seen by him for check-ups or any other concerns I may have. Nothing is as important as the health of your child. You want someone whom you can call with any question (no matter how minor it may seem to you) who will treat you with respect and genuinely care about your qualm. I wish you all luck in finding that security and peace of mind–so important these days when it comes to your baby.
